Meet LaDonna. Handmade, sustainable, made in Connecticut

I'm LaDonna. I sew everything for The Petal & Threads myself, here in Connecticut. I started out making things for my own family, and it grew from there.

A lot of my fabric is second hand, from the quilters in my family. Somebody bought it for a project years ago, folded it up, and it sat in a closet. I like getting it back out. It also means no two things I make come out quite the same, because there is only ever so much of one fabric.

I build things to last. Fast fashion is made to fall apart so you buy it again. Good fabric and strong seams take longer up front, and then the bag just keeps working. I would rather you hand it down than replace it.

The orders I like most are the ones with something behind them. A onesie that becomes a keepsake sweatshirt. A worn quilt top that becomes a tote. A name added to something plain.
